Russian occupiers cause significant damage to the energy sector of Ukraine. As Energy Minister German Galushchenko noted in an interview with the Mi-Ukraine channel, due to the Russian invasion and hostilities on the territory of our state, 90% of wind and about 40-50% of solar energy have already been decommissioned.
It is noted that the bulk of the generating capacity of green energy is located in the south of the country. It was there that hostilities took place and are still ongoing, so the losses of green energy are the greatest. According to the minister, 90% of the “wind” and 40-50% of the “sun” have been decommissioned.
German Galushchenko noted that in 2019 and 2020 Ukraine saw a rapid growth in green energy. This made it possible to increase its share in the energy system of Ukraine to about 10-11%. The developed strategy assumed that in 2030 the share of green energy in Ukraine would be at least 25%.
“I think that after our victory, taking into account the destruction caused by Russia, we may revise it and increase the percentage,” the minister said.
Let us add that in recent weeks, Russian invaders have been actively firing rockets and kamikaze drones at Ukraine’s energy infrastructure facilities in various regions. As a result, about 30% of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure was damaged, and in many regions, energy companies are forced to limit the energy supply to consumers.
