Russian director, screenwriter and cameraman Kantemir Balagov announced the end of cooperation with The Last of Us project, a series based on the famous computer game.

On his Twitter page, the Russian wrote that he left the film crew of the series back in 2021 due to “creative differences”

Earlier it was reported that the director was engaged in the pilot episode of the show The Last of Us. The IMDB website states that Balagov worked on two episodes. But in any case, the materials will be excluded from the series – this is confirmed by the director himself. Who will reshoot the series has not yet been reported.

Also, another Russian woman is involved in the The Last of Us project team – Ksenia Sereda (Balagov’s colleague on the series “Dyldy”). The cameraman filmed 4 episodes of the show, according to IMDB.

The series “The Last of Us” is an adaptation of the computer game of the same name. Game of Thrones stars Pedro Pascal (Joel) and Bella Ramsay (Ellie) will star in the show.

The series also starred Anna Torv (Tess’s smuggler), Merle Dandridge (the voice actress of the heroine in the games will return to her character), Storm Reid (Riley Abel, Ellie’s best friend and one of the key characters in the Left Behind add-on).

The series is written and produced by Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) and Neil Druckmann (Game Director of the original Naughty Dog game).

According to unofficial data, the budget of the TLOU series exceeds $10 million per episode. Earlier, a Canadian official said that HBO plans to give the show $200 million a year, and it could get as many as eight seasons.

The release of the show The Last of Us is scheduled for 2023 – with a more precise date at HBO has not yet been decided.
