Sleep? At night, a very curious story emerged. The fact is that in Russia they began to restrict access to the resources of the world’s most popular instant messenger-social network Telegram. Right now, users cannot access t.me , and the restriction has been introduced at the Roskomnadzor level (the proof is provided by the Universal Service for Checking Access Restrictions to Sites and (or) Site Pages). Thus, all short links of the t.me/ format will stop working; such a restriction does not yet apply to Telegram.org and the application.
The reason is Article 15.3 of the Law “On Information”, which refers to the restriction of access to information containing calls for mass riots and participation in unauthorized actions, extremism, as well as unreliable socially significant information distributed under the guise of reliable messages (they are also “fake” ). In this case, there is every reason to believe that other Telegram resources will be blocked. Recall that earlier in Russia access to Meta services (Facebook and Instagram) was limited, which were accused of extremism. In addition, access is closed in Russia and Twitter.
UPD: Roskomnadzor, ironically, in Telegram, indicated the following: “In connection with the information that has appeared about restricting access to the Telegram resource, we inform you that blocking this social network is currently excluded on the territory of Russia.” t.me has been removed from the registry!
