Writer Stephen King reacted to the likely increase in the cost of a Twitter Blue subscription – the monthly fee at the suggestion of Elon Musk should be $19.99 instead of the current $4.99.
Now for $4.99 a month, Twitter Blue offers a number of additional features , including no ads, a customizable navigation bar, tabbed browsing, and more. Elon Musk wants to introduce a $19.99 per month subscription that includes an account verification feature. Under the current plan, verified users will have 90 days to sign up or lose their blue check mark, which confirms account verification.
Some users were not very pleased with such prospects, in particular, the writer Stephen King expressed dissatisfaction with the too high fee for the blue tick.
“To hell with it, let them pay me. If this is introduced, I’ll go bust like Enron Enron Corporation is an American energy company that went bankrupt in 2001. King wrote.
$20 a month to keep my blue check? Fuck that, they should pay me. If that gets instituted, I’m gone like Enron.

Elon Musk himself has already responded to King’s indignation by offering him a subscription of $ 8 (it’s just not clear whether this offer is for King personally or the possible cost of a subscription for all users).
“We have to pay the bills somehow! Twitter cannot rely entirely on advertisers. How about $8?” Musk wrote.
I will explain the rationale in longer form before this is implemented. It is the only way to defeat the bots & trolls.

Also, the CEO of Twitter added that this is “the only way to defeat the bots and trolls” and promised to later justify the price increase.
On Thursday , Elon Musk did acquire Twitter for $44 billion and now, having named himself CEO , is planning massive changes to the company. Replacing the current Twitter Blue subscription with a more expensive version is one of the first tasks given to the development team. Employees working on the project were told on Sunday that they must meet the November 7 deadline to launch the feature or they would be fired.
