Elon Musk revolution: Twitter will have to pay for verification

October 31, 2022, 23:57

Last week it became known that Elon Musk has finally achieved his goal – the social network Twitter has joined his business empire. The odious entrepreneur immediately set about reforms that will definitely receive a lot of negativity. Thus, the “revolutionary” ordered his new subordinates to develop and implement a new paid subscription by November 7 (!) for those who need verification (blue tick), and it will cost as much as $ 20 per month (and this despite the fact that Twitter Blue with advanced functionality costs only $5). Those who do not wish to pay extra will lose their verification after 90 days, but this is still a long time against the backdrop of the time that the Twitter team was given to execute the order: if they fail to do so by November 7, they will be fired. All this edition of The Verge learned from the internal correspondence he received.

Сказал – сделал! Илон Маск покупает Twitter

In addition to commercial motives, Musk’s initiative may be related to his dissatisfaction with the number of bots on Twitter – this problem almost became an obstacle to acquiring the social network. Also, Musk’s “revolution” provides for the dismissal of some middle managers and other personnel who have not been involved in the code recently. By the way, a video is now circulating on the Web of how Musk fires one of the heads of the department on a live radio broadcast. The Verge has reached out to Twitter for comment about the expensive subscription, but has yet to receive a response. Recall that in Russia access to Twitter is limited.
