On November 2, pre-load of God of War Ragnarök started on PlayStation (price in the PlayStation store – 2299 UAH), and today the first reviews appeared on the popular review aggregator site Metacritic.
At the time of writing, the game has an average Metacritic score of 94 out of 100 based on 63 reviews, while OpenCritic has an identical score based on 69 reviews, with 99% of critics recommending God of War Ragnarök.
Below are estimates of some popular foreign publications:
The graphics and animations of the game are enthusiastically described in the comments – the movements in combat are called very realistic and the camera in God of War Ragnarök is praised, which moves between different viewpoints in such a way that it creates “moments when you know more about the current situation than the characters on the screen “.
Previously, the developers also reported that there are as many as nine presets in the graphics settings of God of War Ragnarök – six on PS5 and three on PS4 / PS4 Pro. These are different variations on the traditional “quality” and “performance” modes.
The combat has not changed much compared to the previous version – but this is not indicated by reviewers as a minus. The number of weapons and the library of special attacks have increased, but the basic combinations have remained almost the same. The game has added enemies – so you will have to compete with mini-bosses more often. In parallel with the main action, side quests and stories are available (they can be explored at your leisure and even receive rewards for this) – but some are optional, which, as reviewers indicate, becomes known in the game a little later.
However, all critics, as one note, that the most important “weapon” in the game was the characters’ characters and the story, which dramatically accurately conveyed the relationship between them.
“God of War Ragnarök is very similar to God of War (2018), which is a compliment considering how fantastic this game is. The developers made the right decision by not breaking what was not broken, and skillfully continued the storylines of the previous game. Any complaints about the overall experience are quickly forgotten due to the captivating storytelling, believable relationships between characters, and incredible visuals and animations.
God of War Ragnarök is the sequel to the 2018 hit about the adventures of the Spartan demigod warrior Kratos and his son Atreus, coming to PS4 and PS5 on November 9th. PC God of War Ragnarök should not be expected before the end of 2023 – PlayStation Studios head Hermann Hulst recently confirmed that PlayStation exclusives will be coming to PC at least a year after release.
