About a decade ago, Ducati launched the rather unusual rebellious Diavel motorcycle into the cruiser market. There have been powerful cruisers before, but there has never been one like this one.
As a rule, cruisers were big and unwieldy with lots of chrome parts and V-engines with a lot of torque at low revs. The Ducati Diavel was different. Relatively light for its class, it was different in appearance and more in line with the futuristic Italian style than the traditional American one. And while the bike did have a big, fat rear wheel and a V-twin engine, Ducati fitted the cruiser with a superbike engine that put out over 150 horsepower and performed better at high revs.
Over time, Ducati transitioned its top-tier superbikes to V4 engines. And now, the 2023 Diavel update also features a Granturismo V4 engine with more cylinders and more power. This engine with a volume of 1158 cm 3 has a power of 168 hp. – 11 hp more than the previous engine. In addition, the Granturismo engine is tuned and adjusted for maximum maneuverability at the exact speeds the Diavel will be driven at.
The 2023 Ducati Diavel received a new aluminum frame and a few other optimizations to make the bike lighter (223kg dry weight) and move its center of gravity lower and closer to the center. Together with a more powerful engine, this should improve the dynamics, speed and handling of the motorcycle.
The Ducati Diavel has some interesting solutions. The rear LED light system is integrated into the lower body as a row of illuminated dots. The color LED instrument panel allows you to control multimedia and navigation functions. Of the electronic driver assistance systems, cornering ABS, traction control, wheel steering, launch control, cruise control and a quick up / down shift system are available.
