In less than two years of the PlayStation 5’s life cycle, the console received several cosmetic changes, which mainly concerned certain parts of the cooling. But in 2023, a completely different device may be released. Several sources at once, including well-known leaker Tom Henderson in gaming circles, report that the PlayStation 5 Slim (most likely, the naming is conditional, and the PS5 will remain PS5, without Slim) will be presented in the third quarter of 2023 ( July-September). According to the information available today, the set-top box will be thinner and lighter not only due to the new chip that does not require a huge cooling system, but also due to the fact that the drive for physical drives will be moved outside the case and will be connected via USB-C.

Probably, the division into regular and Digital versions will be carried out according to the presence of this very drive in the delivery set. By the way, it will supposedly no longer have a stand for fixing the console in a given position. Under this new reality, the design should be slightly changed, although the basic concept will remain. It’s too early to talk about pricing. Recall that today the price of the PlayStation 5 is $400 and $500, depending on the presence of the same optical drive.
