Schneider Electric introduced the APC Smart-UPS Ultra uninterruptible power supply. The manufacturer calls it the smallest and lightest single-phase device on the market with a power of 3 kW and 5 kW.
In a partner material with Schneider Electric, we talk in detail about the new product.
What is known about the new product from Schneider Electric
- APC Smart-UPS Ultra has 2.5 times the power and half the weight and size of comparable solutions. It provides more power in less space and frees up space for other equipment.
- Li-ion technology reduces battery maintenance time and costs.
- Flexible mounting options , including tower, rack, wall or ceiling mount, let you position it to provide more space for your IT equipment.
- EcoStruxure Ready cloud monitoring optimizes performance and allows you to monitor your UPS anytime, anywhere.
Schneider Electric designed the new UPS to provide more power, flexibility and smart monitoring in a minimal footprint. APC Smart-UPS Ultra will solve many of the challenges IT professionals and solution providers face when deploying IT infrastructure in distributed edge computing environments and at the edge.
According to IDC, the global edge computing market will grow by 12.5% annually, to approximately $250.6 billion in 2024. With more digital technology and smarter applications on the rise, businesses will increase the computing resources, networks, and storage that are in close proximity.
“To meet the digital needs of the future, local, regional and cloud data centers must be reliable, green, efficient and adaptable,” says Volodymyr Dokhlenko, Director of Secure Power (APC) Schneider Electric in Ukraine. “APC Smart-UPS Ultra redefines the single-phase uninterruptible power supply, lighter and more powerful with next-generation solid-state technology.”

APC Smart-UPS delivers more power in less space
When creating distributed IT and edge environments, there must be enough space for them to work effectively.
The APC Smart-UPS Ultra has a compact design that delivers more power and takes up less space in your IT system.
The new product is 50% smaller and lighter than comparable solutions on the market. The APC Smart-UPS Ultra offers flexible mounting options: rack-mount, stand vertically, or mount to a wall or ceiling to provide more rack space for IT equipment.
-
Lithium-ion battery reduces service calls
Regular maintenance of uninterruptible power supplies, especially in multiple distributed sites, can cost a lot of money.
The APC Smart-UPS Ultra lithium-ion battery lasts up to three times longer than traditional uninterruptible lead-acid (VRLA) power supplies and does not need to be replaced under normal operating conditions.
This will avoid costly battery replacements, labor and maintenance fees, and service visits throughout the life of the UPS. So, the APC Smart-UPS Ultra reduces the total cost of ownership for 10 years and comes with a five-year warranty.
-
Better visibility anytime, anywhere
When there are not enough or no staff on site, management, maintenance and service become burdensome. This includes checking equipment, replacing batteries, and faulty equipment, especially if the facilities are very distributed and geographically dispersed.
APC Smart-UPS Ultra supports EcoStruxure™ Ready technology for cloud-based monitoring and data-driven recommendations. This allows you to optimize performance and see multiple UPS devices at once, wherever you are.
You can connect through the Ethernet port or the built-in network port, and the APC Smart-UPS EcoStruxure Ready Web Portal sends automatic, customizable notifications when the UPS is healthy. This way you can simplify preventive maintenance, reduce downtime and reduce mean time to repair.
APC Smart-UPS Ultra is available in Europe.
