The French company Devialet has entered the portable smart speaker market by announcing the Devialet Mania device. The novelty has retained the company’s signature sci-fi style and is made in a compact form factor.
The Devialet Mania portable speaker contains four full-range speakers and two subwoofers that provide 360-degree omnidirectional sound. The device also includes four microphones. With their help, the speaker is able to analyze the surrounding space and automatically adjust its sound profile. For example, if you place a speaker near a wall, it will adjust the sound of the two “rear” speakers in such a way as to “amplify” the two “front” speakers.
Devialet Mania supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless standards, as well as AirPlay 2 and Spotify Connect protocols. In addition, the novelty supports the ability to use the Alexa assistant for voice commands. The case provides protection against dust and moisture according to the IPX4 standard. The built-in battery provides up to 10 hours of battery life at “moderate volume”, and the USB-C connector is used to recharge it. An optional docking station can be purchased.
The Devialet Mania portable smart speaker is available for a suggested retail price of $790.
