Volvo Cars has unveiled the Volvo EX90, an all-electric seven-seat SUV. Starting with this model, the company plans to release a new electric car every year to electrify the entire range.
The all-wheel drive Volvo EX90 is equipped with two permanent magnet electric motors, providing a power output of 380 kW (517 hp) and 910 Nm of torque. With a full charge of the battery with a capacity of 111 kWh, the electric car is able to cover a distance of up to 600 km (according to the WLTP cycle). The battery charges from 10% to 80% in less than 30 minutes. The car supports bi-directional charging technology, which allows you to use the car battery as an additional source of energy.
The Volvo EX90 electric car contains a core system based on the NVIDIA DRIVE platform that powers most functions from safety and multimedia to battery life. The car is equipped with cameras, radars and a lidar sensor. They provide 360-degree real-time visibility and support the Pilot Assist driver assistance system. Additional sensors and cameras monitor the driver’s gaze and detect drowsiness or inattention. The system will first warn the driver with a special sound signal, which will increase with the aggravation of the situation on the road. If he does not respond to increasingly clear warnings, the car will stop on its own and call for help.
The central screen of the infotainment system measures 14.5 inches and provides access to Google services: Google Assistant, Google Maps and the Google Play Store. 5G connection supported. Thus, it is possible to block, heat or cool the interior of the car remotely without leaving home. You only need to send the command to Google. The Volvo EX90 is also compatible with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto wireless systems. The owner also has access to a head-up display, Bowers & Wilkins audio system with Dolby Atmos technology and 25 speakers, keyless entry technology (using a smartphone).
The new Volvo EX90 SUV will be produced next year in the US and then in China. The price of Volvo EX90 Twin Motor is €105,000, Twin Motor Performance is €110,000.
For the Ukrainian market, cars will be produced at a plant in the United States. In Ukraine, accepting pre-orders for the EX90 starts on November 10, 2022 (an advance payment in the equivalent of €5,000 is required), final prices for Ukraine will be announced at the end of the 1st quarter of 2023 (approximately €100,000-110,000 for top trim levels), and customers will receive the first cars in the 2nd quarter of 2024.
