Empire magazine published footage of the fifth film of the American franchise about the adventures of archaeologist Dr. Henry “Indiana” Jones – Harrison Ford’s character, it seems, is now working with an assistant and confronting two villains at once.
After most recently playing the titular archaeologist in 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Harrison Ford returns in a film from filmmaker James Mangold (Wolverine, X-Men). The details of “Indiana Jones 5” are still kept secret, but it seems that the main character will plunge into adventures with his assistant – his goddaughter Helena.
Little is known about the heroine so far, but in the footage, it seems that she plays an important role in the search for Indiana. She will be played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, known for the series “Trash” and “Killing Eve”.
In addition to the image of Indiana running through traffic, Ford’s character is also shown with Helena Waller-Bridge in a large cave. Another shot shows an archaeologist standing on a bridge facing a mysterious Nazi. It looks like Toby Jones’ character is next to Indy. It’s not entirely clear what role Jones will play in the plot, but the image suggests that he will appear to be an ally of Ford’s character.

The main antagonist of the film, who will be played by the Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen (“Casino Royale”, “Hannibal”, “Fantastic Beasts 3”), it seems that he will also get an assistant named Klaber, played by Boyd Holbrook (“Narco”).
It’s unclear exactly what role these two antagonists will play in the fifth “Indiana Jones” film — Ford’s character has often battled Nazis, the Soviet Union or other enemies in the past in pursuit of ancient relics.
Shawnette Renee Wilson (Black Panther, Billions) is also shown in the new footage, but it’s unclear what role her character will play.
The images don’t reveal much about the film’s plot, but they do shed light on many of the new characters. Ford’s hero is almost never alone in his adventures, and Helena turns into a capable assistant, which Indy did not have before (perhaps in this way they introduce a replacement for the main character in the film?).
Indiana Jones 5 will hit theaters on June 30, 2023.
