Elon Musk’s SpaceX has decided to revise the price policy of Starlink in Ukraine and to raise the subscription fee for Ukrainians for using satellite Internet — from December 29, it will increase from the current $60 to $75 for users. At the same time, the set of necessary equipment (terminal, mounting and Wi-Fi router) also became more expensive — from $600 to $700.
Ukrainian users were informed about the tariff increase in an e-mail newsletter, and they, in turn, kindly shared screenshots of “letters of happiness” on social networks. In addition, the official Starlink website displays the new price that is already valid for new users.
SpaceX has not publicly commented on what the increase in the price of Starlink for Ukraine is related to, but it is possible to mention the increased demand, especially against the background of current problems with communication due to Russian missile attacks, which damaged or destroyed 50% of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

It’s no secret that Ukraine is now very dependent on Starlink — not only the Ukrainian army relies on it, but also various government structures, mobile operators and Internet providers, the rest of business and, ultimately, ordinary Ukrainians. After the shelling on November 23, which caused a partial blackout and massive communication problems, Ukrainians again became interested in buying Starlink – this is confirmed by Google Trends data. Only until the beginning of November, there were officially more than 20,000 terminals in Ukraine, which were donated by philanthropists and various government organizations. Nowadays, probably, there are even more of them. At the end of September, Musk reported that, in total, Starlink had produced more than 1 million user terminals.
The last time Starlink reviewed prices for Ukrainians was three months ago, when the monthly subscription fee was reduced from $100 to $60 per month. Since then, there have been several high-profile scandals with the participation of Elon Musk due to the billionaire’s outrageous statements regarding the war in Ukraine and Starlink – at first he complained that his company was losing $20 million every month, covering the maintenance of Starlink satellites in Ukraine with its own funds and hinted at the termination of Starlink operations in Ukraine , if the Pentagon does not give money. At the end of October, 1,300 Starlink terminals used by the Ukrainian military temporarily stopped working due to funding uncertainty. After the criticism, Elon Musk said that SpaceX has withdrawn the letter to the Pentagon for funding, and Starlink will continue to be free in Ukraine, despite the “loss of money”.
