In recent days, due to frequent power outages, the popularity of chatbots and sites of DPEK, Yasno and other energy services with schedules of power outages has grown significantly. This is used by fraudsters who try to gain access to personal data of citizens.
They create fake chatbots and websites of Ukrainian energy services, similar to the official ones, and lure Ukrainians to them. On such sites, fraudsters host malicious software that collects personal data, receives correspondence and contact data, and then sends phishing messages to the user’s contacts.
In order to keep trusting users, a group of volunteers from Master of Code Global expanded the capabilities of the UA Anti Spam Bot chatbot. It is now able to automatically delete messages from scammers, namely:
- user comments in Telegram channels and groups with links to fake accounts of energy services;
- user comments in Telegram channels and groups with phishing messages about alleged monetary assistance to the population.
In addition, the UA Anti Spam Bot chatbot automatically searches for all user comments in Telegram channels and groups using the keywords “DTEK”, “Yasno” and others. These comments get checked by the UA Anti Spam Bot developers, after which it is manually decided whether the comment is fraudulent.

We will remind you that the UA Anti Spam Bot chatbot was created at the beginning of the war in order to prevent unnecessary and dangerous messages about the coordinates of hits and roadblocks, the movement of Ukrainian military equipment and other information that could be useful to invaders. UA Anti Spam Bot made the work of chat administrators much easier because it automatically deleted unwanted messages. Currently, the chatbot not only removes malicious comments from users in Telegram groups and channels, but also has an anti-fraud system and air alert notification functions. The chatbot already covers more than 420 thousand users.
