In Lviv, the iOS application for renting apartments, bird (not to be confused with the American service for renting electric scooters), has been operational since today – the developers have timed the expansion of the geography of availability to the fourth anniversary of the service. The update is now available in the App Store.
This was made possible thanks to a grant that the bird team recently received from Google as part of the Google for Startups initiative. Bird said that they received an incredible number of requests for various cities in Ukraine, but they chose Lviv based on the demand for housing in the city.
bird is a service for finding apartments for rent, which was launched by the LUN team in 2018. In fact, it is an aggregator that collects ads from more than 20 real estate sites. The developers call the application the first of its kind with artificial intelligence. Until 2022, bird worked exclusively in Kyiv, and earlier this year the service entered the international market and was launched in London. The app has 230,000 users and has a rating of 4.9 out of 5 in the App Store.
One of the main differences and advantages of Bird is a convenient 3D map and simple filters that help to sort apartments by square footage, choose new buildings or houses of the old housing stock. As for the declared “artificial intelligence”, it is about intelligent algorithms that remove duplicates from the service and show only relevant options.

Separately, the developers mention a new function under the mocking name “Grandma’s Renovation”, which will filter housing by interior and furniture, as well as the ability to select an area where housing rent is of primary interest, view available options and subscribe to updates. If necessary, users can receive notifications about new apartments in one or another area.
In 2019, bird received two Red Dot awards, and the London program received the distinction of product hunt of the day and of the week in June 2022.
