Picodi.com analysts compared the prices of components and accessories for gaming computers in 50 countries of the world and compared them with the local average monthly salary. And then, based on this data, they calculated how many months you need to work in these countries to buy a gaming PC.
The authors of the study operate with the concept of “ideal gaming computer”, the configuration of which is compiled taking into account data from the Steam service about the most common components. The specific configuration is not indicated, for example, there is no data on which processor model was used in the calculation. Taking into account the announced price, this is a chip from the configuration of the optimal computer of the “PC of the month” category.
The price of an “ideal gaming computer” (system unit filling) taking into account current Ukrainian prices is about UAH 45.8 thousand. If you add the need to buy a monitor, operating system and gaming accessories, the price of the “ideal gaming computer” reaches UAH 67,850. And about 16 thousand hryvnias. must be set aside for a year to purchase one new game each month.
Taking into account the current dollar exchange rate (after all, the official NBU rate appears in the calculations, not the market rate), the price of an “ideal gaming computer” in Ukraine is approximately $1,842. The average salary in Ukraine after deduction of taxes is UAH 10,777. Thus, to buy a gaming PC, the average Ukrainian needs to work for 6.3 months. This is the 46th place in the rating when comparing the cost of a computer and the average salary.
Among the countries included in the rating, the highest price for a computer and accessories in dollars will be paid by residents of Argentina – $4,238. To buy a computer in this country, you need to save up for more than a year – 12.4 months. In second place in the rating is India – $2957. Although the computer looks more expensive, higher salaries allow Indians to save up for the purchase of a gaming PC faster than Ukrainians can – 5.4 months. In third place in terms of the cost of a PC was Brazil, $2,858. You also need to collect 6.3 months for the purchase. In Pakistan, a gaming computer is cheaper than in Ukraine — $1,685. But due to low salaries, you need to save for 10.4 months to buy it. In Indonesia, the situation is approximately the same — it takes 8.7 months to save for a computer worth $1,713.
Gamers from Poland, Germany and the USA can enjoy the lowest prices. In these countries, the computer and all necessary accessories cost $1,547, $1,552, and $1,562, respectively. The most favorable ratio of the price of a gaming computer to the average salary is in Switzerland (0.3 salary), the USA (0.4 salary) and Australia (0.4 salary).
