Warner Bros. released the first teaser trailer for “Barbie,” the upcoming movie about the famous Mattel doll starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. Simultaneously on the channel Warner Bros. Pictures Ukraine released a version with Ukrainian dubbing.
The video begins with a reference to the cult classic “2001 A Space Odyssey” – only instead of the mysterious black Monolith … a Margot Robbie doll. As always, the first teaser trailer is very short, but you can get a first impression of the sweet and carefree life in Barbie’s world.
In addition to Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken, the trailer also features other puppet characters, including Sima Liu, Isa Rae, Shuti Gatwa, and Hari Nef.
A film about Barbie has been in development since 2014 – Sony originally wanted to make it with an emphasis on feminism. Two-time award nominee Greta Gerwig (“Little Women,” “Lady Bird”) directed the adaptation from a script co-written with Noah Baumbach (“Marriage Story,” “The Myrowitz Family Stories”). After the first images of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in neon outfits appeared at the beginning of the year, the film caused a great response and active discussion on social networks.
