CD Projekt Red Global Community Manager Marcin Momot also shared news of the patch, saying it “weighs in” at around 3GB on Steam and 1.9GB on GOG. The patch will not be considered a numbered update – The Witcher 3 will retain version 4.0 even after installation.
The hotfix, which should affect the full stability and resolution of the game, is only available on PC. Please make sure to update your version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and let us know how you’re finding it.

The Witcher 3 Next-Gen free update was released on Steam, GOG, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S last week. The company has yet to release it for the Nintendo Switch version of The Witcher 3 – this version will not receive any new performance tweaks or visual improvements, players on the Nintendo console will have access to the newly added content.
The game’s new graphics look stunning, but the PC version suffers from crashes and poor performance. CD Projekt Red said it is aware of these issues and is working to resolve them. Obviously, the released hotfix is far from the last in a series of fixes. According to reviewers who have already tried to fix it, when ray tracing is turned on, the performance still leaves much to be desired. The game also makes poor use of multithreading, using the CPU minimally. So players who want to get the most out of Witcher 3 next generation are advised to be patient.
In addition, the update did not bring the expected HDR mode to Witcher 3 on PC – the corresponding mode in Windows 11 is recommended to be disabled during the game. An interesting new hardware-related option is the ability to use DualSense controllers with operational tactile feedback and adaptive triggers on a PC.
