Rome will stand side by side with Kyiv until the last Russian soldier leaves the sovereign lands of Ukraine, the minister emphasized.
If Russia sees its defeat on the horizon, it will dare to launch a nuclear strike.
As Italian Defense Minister Guido Crozetto told Il Fatto Quotidiano, the Kremlin has an action plan in case of a “point of no return”.
“The use of tactical nuclear energy is planned by Russia. It is unthinkable for us, and yes for Moscow, if the point of no return is passed, if they risk defeat. In short, the danger potentially exists, although it is very unlikely,” Crosetto said.
He assured that Rome will stand side by side with Kyiv until the last Russian soldier leaves the sovereign lands of Ukraine.
“If possible, we will certainly help them defend themselves: Russia has crossed a border that it should not have crossed,” Crosetto added.
The Italian minister promised to provide Ukraine with air defense systems, but noted that this procedure would take some time.
The Kremlin’s nuclear threats
Nuclear threats have been voiced in the Kremlin for a long time. The ex-president of the Russian Federation Dmytro Medvedev likes to make statements on this topic.
Putin also raised the topic of nuclear weapons on December 7, noting that such a threat to peace exists.
“Russia will not be the first to use nuclear weapons, but if it does not use the first, it means that it will not use the second either,” he said.
The President of the Russian Federation also mentioned nuclear weapons during the announcement of partial mobilization in September.
