In the last few days, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been fighting for control of a strategically important road near Kreminnaya.
If the Armed Forces take full control of the P66 road in Donbas, the defense of the Russian troops in Kreminnaya will be undermined. This is stated in a recent summary from British intelligence.
The British note that for the past five days, Ukrainian and Russian forces have been fighting for control of the P66 highway, which runs from Belgorod Oblast through Svatove to Kreminnaya and Severodonetsk. The British believe that this road is of key importance for the supply of Russian forces in the area.
“Its use has been disrupted by Ukrainian artillery since October, but if Ukraine could secure this route, it would most likely undermine the Russian defense of Kreminnaya even more,” the report says.
Battles for the liberation of Kreminnaya
After the liberation of Lyman in early October, the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched an operation to liberate Kreminnaya. After almost three months of persistent fighting, Ukrainian troops have come much closer to the city.
The military believes that the liberation of Kreminnaya is an important stage on the way to the de-occupation of the entire Luhansk region, as it opens the way to Lysychansk and Rubizhne.
At the end of December, social networks began to spread rumors about Kreminnaya’s release, but the authorities denied them.
