In the movie “Avatar 3” we will see new, darker corners of Pandora. James Cameron announced the story of the local inhabitants, the Na’vi, whose life is connected with the element of fire. The third film of the franchise will show a people who are fundamentally different from the Omatiks and Metkains – the tribes that the audience watched in the first two parts.
The first “Avatar” presented the omatics living in the forest, in the second we saw a tribe from the island of Metkain, which even evolved differently than their forest counterparts. To adapt to the oceanic environment, they acquired green skin, thick flat tails and a number of other anatomical differences. Speaking to 20 Minutes, director James Cameron talked about the Ash People that Jake and Neytiri may interact with in the next film. In addition, Cameron noted that the Na’vi in ”Avatar 3″ will not be portrayed as unambiguously positively as in the previous films:
“[Зритель увидит] cultures other than those I have already shown. The fire will be represented by “People of the Ashes”. I want to show the Na’vi from a different perspective, because so far I have only shown their good sides. There are very negative human examples and very positive Na’vi examples in the early films. In Avatar 3, we will do the opposite. We will also explore new worlds, continuing the story of the main characters. I can say that the last parts will be the best. Others were an introduction, a way to set the table before serving the food. But obviously everything will depend on how Avatar 2 is received, if it finds its audience.”
Based on Cameron’s comments, the Ash People may be an aggressive Na’vi clan. They will challenge the audience’s expectations by challenging their perception of the original inhabitants of Pandora. Although “Avatar” showed the natives from different sides, glorifying their contradictions and prejudices, nevertheless, the aborigines were presented from an unambiguously positive side, much the same was the case in the second film. The new tribe can be very different from the already familiar viewers, not only in terms of evolution, but also in character.

Has Avatar: The Path of Water found its audience? The film’s box office collection is impressive: in less than a month, the film collected more than $1.3 billion. Reviews on the Internet are also mostly positive. This could mean that such parts have a future. On the other hand, Cameron previously said that he would consider a box office success of about $2 billion, which has not yet been achieved. The director hinted that the next films will change the formula of the franchise, adding more complex themes, accents and new entourage – they will definitely not be exactly the pictures we have already seen.
