ChatGPT, a new OpenAI chatbot that generates text that looks remarkably like human writing, is currently unavailable for use in New York public education institutions due to “concerns about the negative impact on learning.”
The New York Department of Education has banned access to ChatGPT from devices and internet networks it owns. Individual institutions may request access only for the study of artificial intelligence or for technology-related studies.
“Due to concerns about the negative impact on learning, as well as concerns about the security and veracity of the content, access to ChatGPT is limited. While this tool can provide quick and easy answers to questions, it does not build the critical thinking and problem-solving skills that are important for academic and lifelong success,” said Jenna Lyle, a spokeswoman for the Department of Education.
ChatGPT was created by OpenAI, an artificial intelligence laboratory launched a few years ago with the financial support of Elon Musk and other entrepreneurs. The bot works on the basis of a “big language model” – artificial intelligence software that has been taught to predict the next word in a sentence by analyzing huge volumes of Internet text and finding patterns by trial and error.

FINANCIAL ANALYSIS
ChatGPT has been improved by people to make its responses more realistic, and many have noted its ability to produce humorous or philosophical texts. However, since November 2022, when it was released publicly, it has caused much discussion and concern due to the increasing use of artificial intelligence systems in creative industries.
In December, Stack Overflow — a popular question-and-answer website for professional programmers and enthusiasts — banned him for giving incorrect answers to programming questions. Even OpenAI CEO Sam Altman tweeted last month that “it’s a mistake to rely on it for anything important right now.”
ChatGPT is incredibly limited, but it’s nice to have some thoughts that create despite capturing a lot.
it’s a mistake to be relying on it for any important right life. it’s a preview of progress; we have lots of work to do on strength and truthfulness.

At the same time, according to the Washington Post, some teachers are “almost in a panic” because the technology allows students to pass off homework as their own. The New York Times recently showed writers and teachers samples of ChatGPT writing alongside student writing, and none of them could tell the bot’s text from human text.
Here’s ChatGPT’s response to the news of its ban from New York educational institutions:
“It is important to consider the potential risks and benefits of using ChatGPT in education and carefully weigh the evidence before making a decision. It is also important to listen to the views and concerns of all stakeholders, including teachers, students and parents, in order to make informed and fair decisions.”
In particular, the new AI tool from OpenAI can be used as a potential new model for online search: the chatbot easily answers complex questions, immediately giving detailed answers. Users searching for information on Google must scan through the pages of results until they find the option they need. Microsoft has already decided to take advantage of the chatbot, and plans to launch a version of its Bing search engine in March 2023 that will use ChatGPT to provide answers.
