The series will consist of eight episodes, and the pilot will be written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, who wrote and directed Netflix’s action comedy The Red Notice, starring Gal Gadot, Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds.

The Dungeons&Dragons show will join the streaming service’s collection of adaptations, which has already successfully hosted the American military sci-fi series based on the Halo video game series. The past few years have seen a significant surge in television adaptations of gaming titles, and Dungeons & Dragons is just the latest example.

“The best adaptation of all time” – the first reviews have appeared for the series The Last of Us, which will debut on HBO Max on January 15
