YouTube channel KrisFix, which covers the work of a professional German video card repair service, claims that of the 60 AMD Radeon RX 6900 and 6800 cards that came in for repair in the last three weeks, 48 had a serious defect that made them unusable.
KrisFix made a video asking the community to share information about the issue. A survey of the service’s customers did not reveal any pattern connecting all of these cases, except for the use of the latest version of the AMD driver released in December.
However, the nature of the damage found when disassembling the video cards suggests that the driver is unlikely to be involved in the problem – the graphics processors were completely destroyed. The defect is also unrelated to the workload or intensity of use of these cards – the survey did not reveal any extreme GPU usage.

It seems strange that there are no other sources reporting similar issues with the Radeon RX 6900/6800. It seems that the vast majority of users have not encountered them. It is possible that the defect is related to a specific batch of video cards or the source of their supply, although such a pattern was not detected during the survey of users. But still, the cards arrived at the same service in Germany.
