The Rakuten Viber company shared the results of the use of the Viber messenger in 2022 in Ukraine. It is noted that Ukrainians increasingly use the program to communicate and read channels or communities.
The duration of calls by Ukrainians via Viber in 2022 was 48.1 billion minutes. This is 44% more than last year 2021. The number of messages sent by Ukrainians through Viber remained at a record level in 2021 – about 97.5 billion. This is taking into account the fact that many users left Ukraine due to the war and switched to foreign numbers.

On February 24, 2022, the day Russia’s full-scale offensive began, more calls were made and more messages sent via Viber than any other day of the year. On this day, Ukrainians called each other 53 million times and sent 547 million messages. February 25 is the second most popular program, and December 31 is the third.

In 2022, Ukrainians actively congratulated each other on Independence Day and Defender of Ukraine Day. On August 24, Viber users sent each other 27% more messages, and on October 14 – 18.6% more messages compared to last year 2021.
It is noted that in 2022, the reading of channels and communities in Viber increased significantly. During the year, the number of messages read by users in channels and communities increased by 70.5% compared to 2021. The period of the most active reading of messages in channels and communities is the end of February and March.
The top channels that grew the fastest in 2022 in Viber (gained more subscribers in the first months after creation) are the Channel of the Anti-Disinformation Center of the National Security Council of Ukraine and the channel of Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
