Pedro Pascal played Mario in a parody trailer for the defunct HBO series Mario Kart

In a humorous pseudo-trailer for HBO’s Mario Kart series on YouTube’s Saturday Night Live channel, Pedro Pascal, as Mario the plumber, takes on the mission of taking Princess Peach to Rainbow Road. The hint is extremely transparent, but for those who don’t know, let’s say that the video parodies the series The Last of Us. The “trailer” lasts about three minutes and also features famous characters from the Mario games such as Bowser, Yoshi, Toad and Luigi.

Unrecognizable

In the universe of the “trailer” (if you can call it that), 10 years have passed since the Mushroom Kingdom fell. Mario, played by Pascal, who is the iconic “it’s me Mario” line, is asked to take Princess Peach to the Rainbow Road in an attempt to save humanity by giving him the cards to do so.

The heroes have to fight the villains from the games – luckily they have shotguns and some power-ups. When Mario takes a bite out of a toadstool, Princess Peach asks him why he’s eating poison: “It makes me feel big, okay?! I have to feel big because there’s Bowser and he’s the main bad guy.” It is noted that the “master storytellers behind Mario Kart 1-8” are involved in the creation of the video – the franchise is distinguished by a well-thought-out plot.

The video contains many Easter words, which do not make sense to reveal – it is better to enjoy watching it:

It should be noted that the “trailer” is made very qualitatively: it is dynamic, exciting and funny, filled with processed frames and some special effects. Pedro Pascal is probably the best candidate for the role of Mario, such a film with his participation could be watched with pleasure.
