On February 13, the filming of the film “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare”/The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare began in Turkey with Henry Cavill, Eisa Gonzalez (“Ambulance”) and Henry Golding (“Gentlemen”) in the main roles.
Guy Ritchie not only directed but also wrote the screenplay in collaboration with Arash Amel, Paul Tamasi and Eric Johnson, based on Damien Lewis’ book The Ministry of Ungentlemanly War: How Churchill’s Secret Soldiers Set Europe on Fire and Created Modern Shadow Operations.
The story focuses on the real events of the Second World War and Winston Churchill’s secret fighting unit, which used unconventional and ungentlemanly fighting methods to defeat the Nazis. According to Deadline, the director sees the project as a franchise.
“I’ve worked with Guy on many films over the years, and he always creates what the audience wants – original, action-packed creations. I’m thrilled to team up again to bring The Ministry and its incredible cast to audiences,” said Adam Fogelson, vice president, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group.
The project will be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, known for the cinematic hits “Top Gun: Maverick” and the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise, along with Chad Oman, Ivan Atkinson, John Friedberg, Scott LaStatie and Damien Lewis.
Lionsgate will distribute the film in the US, while Prime Video will handle international releases. The film will appear in cinemas in 2024.
Earlier, Henry Cavill announced that he will not return to the role of Superman and the Witcher, but will take part in the creation of a serial adaptation of Warhammer 40K for Amazon. According to rumors, the actor was in talks to participate in the project of Anna de Armas (“Blonde”).
