It was recently revealed that in the next-gen version of The Witcher 3, some female non-player characters received detailed external genitalia with intimate hairstyles, although previously this area was flat and hairless, like a Barbie doll. A more detailed description of the situation can be found in our previous material.
At the time, the developers from CD Projekt Red said that the realistic female genitalia had entered the game unintentionally and would be removed in one of the upcoming updates. All things considered, outspoken models have infiltrated the game with one of the fan mods.
The vulva textures were supposed to be taken from the Vaginas for Everyone mod. But it turned out not to be so. A CD Projekt Red representative said that “the vulva textures in question were part of the HD Monsters Reworked (HDMR) mod, not Vaginas for Everyone.”
“In 2021, during the signing of the copyright transfer agreement, mod author HDMR confirmed to CDPR that he was the sole author of the mod in question. Mod creator HDMR granted rights to use the mod to CD Projekt Red and was credited and compensated for his work. We contacted the author of the HDMR fashion with questions for clarification,” the company said.
CD Projekt Red has confirmed that they intend to remove overly explicit vulvar textures from the game. But at the same time, the companies add that the commitment to remove images of female genitalia from The Witcher 3 “is not a statement against nudity or adult themes.”
“We also want to add that the removal of these elements is not a statement against nudity or adult themes, but rather an attempt to maintain visual consistency across all character models – including these textures in the game was not something we planned from the beginning,” CD states.
