“Banshee Inishreena” and “Elvis” won four BAFTAs each, and Austin Butler and Cate Blanchett were honored as best actor and actress.
On February 19, the 76th British Oscar ceremony – the BAFTA 2023 film awards – was held at the Royal Festival Hall in London, where the winners were announced in 25 categories.
Directed by Edward Berger, based on Erich Maria Remarque’s novel of the same name, On the Western Front Without Change, it received a record number of BAFTA nominations (14) and won 7.
Netflix’s anti-war epic won BAFTAs for Best Film, Best Foreign Language Film, Best Sound, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Director and Best Original Score.
Irish playwright Martin McDonagh’s Banshee Inishreen won four awards (including two for best supporting actor and best supporting actress for Barry Keoghan and Carrie Condon).
Austin Butler won the award for playing the main role in the biopic “Elvis”, and Cate Blanchett – for the role of conductor Lydia Tarr. Here is a list of some of the nominees and winners:
