Realme may be the first among Android smartphone manufacturers to create a solution similar to Apple’s Dynamic Island. This is indicated by a tweet from the head of the company (now removed) and a leaked animation.
This information is not a surprise. Back in September of last year, Realme announced its intention to clone Dynamic Island. It seems that the company’s specialists have been working on the Mini Capsule feature since then. A photo in a remote tweet showed a pill-shaped user interface element at the top of the screen. It also featured the Oppo SuperVOOC fast charging logo. The animation, shared by an insider OnLeaks, shows the capsule in the front camera area expanding and snapping to display charging status information.
Apple’s Dynamic Island feature has been a placeholder of sorts since the launch of the iPhone 14 Pro. It could display a warning about the low battery level of the AirPods or other messages. iOS 16.1 introduced the Live Activity API, which opened access to Dynamic Island to third-party developers. And now some apps, like Uber, can use Dynamic Island to display information without opening the app itself. Google Maps will add support for Live Activity “in the coming months.”
In addition to informing about the charging status, there is still no information about how Realme intends to use its own analogue Dynamic Island.
Dynamic Island Android app has been downloaded over a million times on Google Play less than a week after its launch
