In new materials for partners, AMD has explained the difference between Ryzen 7000 mobile processors. They confirm that the 7000 series, with a rather complex naming system, combines the Zen2, Zen3, Zen4, RDNA2, RDNA3 and Vega architectures within the same series. The most anticipated laptops with mobile CPUs based on the Zen 4 architecture are not yet on sale – however, the situation will change soon.
AMD has provided a simple guide for those looking for real consumer products but not particularly familiar with the specs. An orange sticker on the laptop means the processor is based on the Zen 4 architecture (Ryzen 7040/7045), while the old gray sticker would indicate Zen 2 or Zen 3 chips (Ryzen 7020, 7030 and 7035).
Currently, there are practically no reviews of notebooks with Ryzen 704X, but two systems have already been tested by Notebookcheck – they have the same new sticker.
Of course, you need to choose a laptop for purchase more carefully than by the color of the sticker. Nevertheless, the new designations allow you to quickly distinguish devices with the latest AMD processor architecture and not get confused.
