The creators of the anonymous network and secure browser Tor have released the privacy-oriented Mullvad browser, which works through the VPN of the same name. The browser is available for Windows, Mac and Linux.

The main goal of Mullvad Browser is to make it harder for advertisers and other companies to track you online. This is achieved by reducing browser “fingerprints” – metadata collected by sites to identify the device. Mullvad masks this data by also blocking third-party cookies and trackers. The kit includes several installed plugins to help minimize the “footprint” that remains.
Essentially, Mullvad is a FireFox clone, just like the Tor browser. On FireFox, an advanced user can configure the same level of protection. The browser allows you to get the maximum level of “invisibility” immediately after installation, without a long fuss with settings. Also, Mullvad is more convenient and user-friendly than Tor, which doesn’t always work well with normal sites.
According to the authors, the new browser is very similar to the Tor browser, its main difference is that it connects to the Internet through a VPN, and not through the Tor network. The Mullvad VPN service provides access, including to onion sites, but it is not mandatory – you can use any other.
Mullvad browser also has some features of use. Probably, not all sites will open normally in it – primarily, due to privacy settings.
Google VPN has become available for a fee to Google One users in 22 countries – previously it could be used starting with the Premium 2 TB plan for $9.99
