Adaptations of video games in movies and series are at the peak of popularity right now. The Sonic the Hedgehog movies have been a huge success, and One of Us is the newest series in 2023. The animated film “Super Mario Brothers” is released today, which is expected to be a box office hit.
At the same time, other films are in development and production. Yes, Warner Bros. has been making a movie from the Microsoft Minecraft game for many years. For the first time, there was talk of creating a film based on Minecraft back in the spring of 2014. Initially, its release date was called May 24, 2019, and then the premiere was postponed to March 4, 2022.
Both of those dates are long gone, and the Minecraft movie still hasn’t been released. This can be partly blamed on the Covid-19 pandemic, which prevented the film from being completed in the spring of 2022. However, now it has become known that fans of the sandbox from Microsoft will have to be patient again.
According to Deadline, Warner Bros. has set a new release date for Minecraft. It is now scheduled to premiere on April 4, 2025 – 2 years from now and 11 years after it was first reported. Jared Hess, who previously directed Napoleon Dynamite, is currently set to direct the film. It was previously reported that finding a director for this project was not easy, and Jason Momoa is in talks to star in the film.
