For the first time, you can buy or rent all Star Trek feature films in 4K HDR. All six films with the original cast, all four featuring the cast of The Next Generation and three later JJ Abrams films were released in the modern format.
In early April, Paramount released a Blu-ray set that included Star Trek: Generations, Star Trek: First Contact, Star Trek: Rebellion and Star Trek: Retribution – The Next Generation movies that tell the story of about the adventures of the team of captain Jean-Luc Picard. For the first time, these films have become available for home viewing in 4K HDR format. Along with Blu-ray, movies are also available on demand on Apple TV and some other platforms.
Last year, the films of the original series were released: “Star Trek: The Movie”, “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan”, “Star Trek III: The Search for Spock”, “Star Trek IV: The Road Home”, “Star Trek V: The Final Frontier” and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. The alternate line films that rebooted the saga were initially available in modern formats.
However, not all offshoots of the classic TV series are available at least in HD. Seasons of the original series, which aired in 1966, as well as all seven seasons of The Next Generation, which began in 1987, as well as Enterprise and the animated series, have been re-released on Blu-ray and in digital HD. But Deep Space and Voyager, featuring the crew of Captain Katherine Janeway, are still only available in SD. There were only reworkings of small bits of Deep Space Nine for the documentary and fanatical attempts at upscaling with AI.
