Since 2017, Jade – the main character of the animation of the Lofi Girl YouTube channel – has been a constant companion of users who came to the page to listen to chill-hop music. However, yesterday the girl and her cat disappeared from the stream – now they are broadcasting an empty room.
Some patiently waited for Jade to return, while others tried to investigate her mysterious disappearance. Users speculated that the timer on yet another broadcast was a countdown to Lofi Girl’s return. Also, some write that the blue light flashing in the room through Morse code invites to the site at www.lofiworld.com.
When broadcasting an empty room, it sometimes seems as if the window is moving. It is interesting that a week ago, the channel published a video called “What’s going on with this blue window?”, where a girl and a cat look out the window, and the camera approaches it.
After Jade’s disappearance, the channel’s background image also featured a countdown timer, while the channel’s avatar changed to a question mark. Currently, both broadcasts are still ongoing, with a timer hinting that there are 5 hours left (at the time of writing) until something important happens.
However, it is unlikely that there is any mystical mystery here, most likely it is such a marketing move of the Lofi Girl team. The other day, they published a press release with the promise of some “big discovery” already on April 11. Probably, the channel is waiting for rebranding – maybe the main character will debut in a new image, grow up and will not study in the future, but will work on a laptop for videos. And maybe Lofi Girl will start to move around the room and interact with objects.
