The Spanish brand Loewe released a collection of clothes in which you can feel like a character from Minecraft or a retro game. This is how others will see you thanks to the large pixel. The drawing is thin, T-shirts and pants imitate the contours and textures of fabrics, if they were made in low resolution.
The pixelation of older games is their iconic feature and appeals to many people. This is evidenced by the popularity of Minecraft and the fact that indie developers are still creating a huge number of retro-style games. Such clothes also have a chance to be popular.
Loewe announced the Pixel collection at Paris Fashion Week in October 2022. Now the fashion house has presented a catalog of products available for purchase on its website. This word is in quotation marks because the skinnies from the collection cost $2,500, the handbag – $3,400, the pants – $2,500, the T-shirt – $1,850, and the denim skirt – “only” $790.
What’s good about this clothing line is that it focuses less obsessively on corporate advertising, as many do. Although the design hints at Microsoft, and the T-shirt design includes the logo, the wearer of the items from the Pixel collection does not look like a living billboard.
It’s not that Loewe’s clothes look practical or modest, but they don’t seem fancy or tacky. Such a design is effective and evokes a sense of nostalgia (although, most likely, young people will like it).
