The head of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine gave an interview to liga.net, in which he complained about the drop in traffic of Ukrainian resources on YouTube, in particular those participating in the national telethon.
Recently, we have noticed some decrease in traffic. In such cases, we react. In particular, this concerned not only the resources that were in the telethon, but also 24 channels and others.
Tkachenko said that the Ministry of Culture has sent a letter to YouTube and they are currently conducting a check there – traffic is now being restored on some channels. Also, on April 13, a meeting was held with Meta (Facebook) regarding the blocking of pages of Ukrainians or information resources that talk about the war.
“If we are talking about a policy of sanctions against Russians or resources like the Country, we also appeal. But they are periodically reborn, and here we must constantly monitor it, we will pay attention to it.”
Earlier, the Ministry of Statistics asked Meta to improve the quality of moderation — so that the publications of Ukrainians would no longer be hidden, and their accounts would not be blocked without reason. The company later allocated a separate team that was supposed to quickly respond to unjustified blocking of Ukrainian content.
The main reasons for the blocking are related to the far from ideal operation of Facebook’s automatic algorithms and the excessive activity of Russian bots, which massively complain about the publications of Ukrainians.
