The janitor of the Tesla Cybertruck prototypes once caused a stir on the network – the part looked huge and ridiculously out of place. Users wondered whether such a decision would take root. New footage shows his work, so there is less and less doubt.
Drone video shows the massive Cybertruck windshield wiper in action. It looks functional and may have been improved since the previous demo, but it looks just as weird. And still leaves a large area of glass in front of the passenger seat without cleaning.
Brad Sloan yesterday filmed the Cybertruck near the Tesla plant in Texas, where the car was undergoing aerodynamic tests. At the 13.42 mark, you can observe the movement of the giant “janitor”.
The giant Cybertruck windshield is one of the distinguishing features of the electric pickup truck. Keeping it clean is an extraordinary technical problem, the first prototypes did not have a cleaning system at all.
“The wiper is what worries me the most,” Musk said in response to comments about the size of the part. – There is no simple solution. A retractable wiper that retracts into the front of the trunk would be ideal, but complicated.”
However, it is not yet known for sure whether this is the final version of the windshield wiper. Production of the Tesla Cybertruck is scheduled to begin this summer, and the pickup truck will go into production in 2024 – there isn’t much time left. Recall that Tesla has a good futuristic solution for this case:
Tesla still patented the idea using lasers instead of “janitors”
