AMD Phoenix are the latest mobile processors presented by the company at CES in January. The chip is based on the Zen 4 architecture and works in tandem with the RDNA 3 graphics processor – the most powerful integrated solution at the moment. The clock frequency of the built-in video reaches 2.8 GHz.
Ryzen 9 7940HS is an 8-core processor with a base clock frequency of 4.0 GHz and a maximum acceleration of up to 5.2 GHz. The system works with a TDP of up to 80 W. The ASUS gaming laptop is equipped with dual-channel DDR5-5600 memory.
The 780M video card was 12% and 15% faster than the 680M in 3DMark Fire Strike and Time Spy. At the same time, the 680M used faster LPDDR5 memory. The driver for the 780M is not officially released yet – the system did not work correctly with Spider-Man 1 and 2. In other games with a resolution of 1080p and a limit of 80 watts, the results are as follows:
- CS:GO (high graphics settings) – 130 FPS
- GTA 5 (very high) – 81 FPS
- Forza Horizon 5 (High) – 86 FPS
- Fortnite (average): – 78 FPS
- Doom Eternal (average) – 83 FPS
- Horizon Zero Dawn (performance) – 69 FPS
- Call of Duty Modern Warfare (FSR Recommended/Performance) – 106 FPS
- Cyberpunk 2077 (mix of medium and low): – 70 FPS
The system was tested in performance mode installed using the ASUS Armory Crate software. It should be noted that portable game consoles based on such processors will be limited to 15-35 W.
At the same time, the built-in GPU in this system can be overclocked. ETA Prime had no problems with graphics overclocking up to 3 GHz. The clock frequency can be raised to 3.25 GHz, but with this value the work is unstable. The performance and stability of the 780M will surely improve with the release of the official driver.
