Warner Bros. Discovery has released a promo dedicated to upcoming series, both new titles and seasons of shows that will continue to air on the Max/HBO service. In it, among other things, it was reported that the second season of The Last of Us will be released in 2025 – along with the sequels “Euphoria” and “White Lotus”.

The Last of Us, Season 2

The debut season of The Last of Us, the most watched show of 2023 according to IMDb, based on the events of the game The Last of Us released for PS3 in 2013, consisted of 9 episodes that consistently broke ratings records during its broadcasts. One of Us went on to become HBO’s most-watched series of all time and was nominated for 24 Emmy Awards. The fact that the series was renewed was announced two weeks after the release of the last series of the first in March. And already in August, the co-authors announced as many as 4 seasons for the post-apocalyptic show.

Previously, The Last of Us showrunner Craig Mazin announced that production on the second season will begin on February 12, 2024 and, according to the Max promo, will be released as early as 2025.

The sequel will likely adapt the video game The Last of Us Part II, which will be remastered for PlayStation 5 on January 19, 2024. Bella Ramsay (Ellie) and Pedro Pascal (Joel) will reprise their roles, while a new character, Abby, could potentially be played by Caitlin Deaver.

“Penguin”

Lauren Lefranc’s miniseries, based on the DC comics, will tell the story of the Penguin’s rise to power in Gotham City and is a 2022 Batman spin-off. Colin Farrell will reprise his role, and he will be joined by Christine Milioti.

The premiere of “Penguin” on Max is scheduled for the end of 2024. The first season of the series will consist of eight episodes.

Welcome to Derry (prequel to It)

The upcoming horror series, with the working title Welcome to Derry, developed by Andy and Barbara Muschetti and Jason Fuchs, is a prequel to the 2017 and 2019 It films.

The series will be released on the Max service in 2025.

The teaser also showed scenes from the trailer for Game of Thrones spin-off House of the Dragon, which is due out next summer; the Tokyo Police and Sympathetic sequels with Hoa Xuande and Robert Downey Jr., who also serves as executive producer; continuation of “Euphoria”, “White Lotus”, “True Detective”, etc.
