In the second year of the full-scale war, some Ukrainians still watch Russian TV series, and well-known Ukrainian bloggers deliberately promote enemy content on social networks, only increasing its audience.
The popularity of the Russian word “patsan” is clearly evidenced by Apple Music’s indicators, where its soundtrack topped the Ukrainian charts.
Several Ukrainian bloggers (in particular Anna Alkhim, with 700,000 Instagram followers, who has been involved in scandals for her love of Russian music) are actively promoting the Russian series. Meanwhile, actress Irma Vitovska and host Masha Yefrosinina criticized the following position:
“In recent days, several Ukrainian bloggers (probably, they should be called that, because they have a considerable audience) have been quite actively discussing all the vicissitudes of the Russian-language TV series “A Boy’s Word.” That’s how life doesn’t give them, motherfucker, what’s going on in this hellhole. “Ukrainian men and women are dying for your juices right now,” Yefrosinina said.
In addition to the fact that “the word of a boy” is a Russian series (which should already 100% prevent you from wanting to watch it), it tells the story of youth criminal gangs in Kazan, and, if you pay attention to the synopsis, promotes cruelty and contempt for human rights .
It is difficult to say what other subtext can be found in the Russian series without watching it, but Detektor media, referring to the investigation of the publications “Important Stories” and “Meduza”, claims that “the boy’s word” was produced by the companies Toomuch Production and “NMG Studio” with the support of such an interesting to a public organization as the Internet Development Institute, which is engaged in financing propaganda content for young people. In 2022, 3 billion rubles were allocated only for TV series supporting Russia’s attack on Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Culture politely asked bloggers not to advertise Russian content and reminded that it is not distributed on Ukrainian platforms. Earlier in Ukraine, broadcasting of 22 media services related to Russia was banned, including HD REZKA, KINOGO, GidOnline.
