Apple’s iOS 17.2 update is now available for the latest iPhone models. It includes Apple’s new Journal app, which is designed to write about life events with prompts based on phone data, as well as the ability to record spatial videos.
Announced back at WWDC in June, the Journal app is focused on health and well-being, designed to make the user think about the small and big moments in life, reports The Verge. It should recognize “moments” based on the phone’s data, including places visited, photos or workouts the user has done. Based on these “moments”, he can make suggestions for writing texts.
There’s also support for spatial video recording, a feature announced with the iPhone 15 in September. It works by simultaneously recording video from the phone’s main and ultra-wide-angle cameras to create 3D videos. Such videos are intended to be played on the upcoming Vision Pro headset after its release next year.

Other features in the release version of iOS 17.2 include the ability to configure the action button on iPhone 15 Pro to translate phrases, new weather widgets and new features in the Messages app, including a convenient “catch up” button to quickly jump to the first unread message in a conversation. The update also adds Qi2 support for iPhone 13 and 14 and faster 15W wireless charging without the need for a MagSafe charger.
