46% of Ukrainians will contribute to the Armed Forces from each salary — 9% more than at the beginning of 2023

In a new survey, Rakuten Viber tried to find out how the information of Ukrainians in the armed forces and civil servants to acquaintances has changed compared to the beginning of 2023 – about 54 thousand users participated in the survey, which was conducted on the official channel of Rakuten Viber Ukraine. This is already the third study since the beginning of the war.

According to the results of a new survey, 46% of Ukrainians make planned donations for each salary — 9% more than at the beginning of the year. At the same time, 6% of the respondents admitted that they donate a little every day, and 14% after each shelling, thereby converting their anger towards the Russians into investments in the Armed Forces.

Other interesting theses from previous studies by Rakuten Viber regarding changes in the mood of Ukrainians in the context of regular donations

  • In December 2023, according to the results of the survey, 66% of Ukrainians said that they would regularly contribute to the armed forces: 37% do it regularly from each salary, 16.5% after each shelling, and another 6% transfer a little every day. Another 25% of respondents admitted that they help in other ways, and 6.5% directly serve in the Armed Forces. At that time, only 5% of respondents indicated that they did not see the point in donations.
  • In February 2023, Rakuten Viber conducted a survey for the second time “Do you contribute to the Armed Forces and to friends who serve?”, which showed the following distribution of responses: 46% will contribute regularly from each salary (at the beginning of the year – 37%), 14% – after each shelling, 6% transfer every day a little at a time, 25% help in other ways (-4% at the beginning of the year), 5% in the Armed Forces, and 4% do not see the point.

According to the data of the October Opendatabot study, in the nine months of 2023, the three largest funds of Ukraine (United24, “Return Alive” and the Asylum Fund) collected UAH 12.5 billion — the United24 platform collected the most donations (over UAH 7.9 billion, or 63% of the total amount), “Return Alive” received a quarter of this amount (over UAH 3 billion), and about UAH 1.5 billion (12%) were Ukrainians transferred to the Serhiy Prytula Charity Fund.

Last week, United24 reported important milestones — the platform passed the milestone of $500 million in donations since its launch in May 2022.

Attacks on infrastructure > donations to the Armed Forces almost doubled — in October alone, Ukrainians transferred 1.5 ₴ billion to United24, Povrnys zihim and Prytuli Fund
