Warner Bros. released the third trailer for Dune: Part Two, the sequel to director Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s cult sci-fi novel.
According to the synopsis, in the second part, Paul Atreides teams up with Chani and the Freemen (a tribe of desert people in the Dune universe) to take revenge on the conspirators who destroyed his family.
Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista and Javier Bardem return to their roles. There will also be new characters played by Austin Butler (the villain Fade-Rout Harkonnen), Florence Pugh (Princess Irulan) and Christopher Walken (Shaddam IV).
While previous trailers were more visual, the new look at the second Dune heavily emphasizes the film’s action elements, including a full battle sequence between the Freemen and the Harkonnens. Despite the fact that almost all the new characters have already been revealed, in the new video they have a more prominent place. The romantic relationship between Paul (Chalamé) and Chani (Zendea) also received more attention, with Atreid sharing details of his nightmares with her in the trailer.
The second part of “Dune” will be slightly longer than the first and will last 2 hours and 45 minutes.
“Dune: Part Two” will be released in Ukraine in March 2024 (the premiere was originally planned for November 2023, but it was postponed due to strikes in Hollywood).
The first Dune was a $402 million box office hit, earning 10 Academy Award nominations and six wins. Previously, Villeneuve said that the sequel is “better than the original” and that the Dunes 3 script is almost ready.
