Marvel announced a new animated series from the world of Black Panther during a promotional event for the second season of the studio’s first animated series, What If?, along with other animated titles.

The animated series “Eyes of Wakanda” / The Eyes of Wakanda will not focus on Black Panther, but will show the story of Wakanda’s warriors who travel the world to find dangerous artifacts of the chosen one.

Marvel is developing several series with Black Panther director Ryan Coogler set in the world of Wakanda, and according to Variety, he’s also involved in an upcoming animated project.

Other announcements include the reconfirmation of the animated series X-Men ’97 (premiering in 2024) and Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, formerly known as Spider-Man: Year One.

As of May, no live-action film from the Wakanda universe had been ordered, with Marvel shelving its plans amid criticism, including from Disney CEO Bob Iger, who said the studio had “oversaturated the market.”

Iron Heart (a spinoff of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), starring Dominika Thorne, Anthony Ramos and Alden Ehrenreich, has been pushed back from fall 2023 to an as-yet-unannounced date.

All in all, the only Marvel movie hitting theaters in 2024 will be Deadpool 3. Disney+ has Echoes in January and Agatha: The Darkhold Diaries in the fall.
