Twitch has loosened its restrictions on sexual content, allowing “artistic” depictions of naked people

The video streaming service will allow “intentionally highlighting the breasts, buttocks or pelvic area” if the video receives a special label warning viewers. The same applies to painted or animated “breasts, genitals, or buttocks regardless of gender,” as well as “writings on women’s breasts or buttocks.”

Twitch will also not block broadcasts with erotic dance (such as striptease) if the tag is present. No tags are required for twerking, grinding, and pole dancing content.

Angela Hession, Twitch’s chief moderation officer, says the platform updated the policy after receiving “consistent feedback from streamers” that the current rules were “confusing” and making it difficult for them to understand how their content would be interpreted. Hession added that the previous policy “did not meet industry standards and resulted in the disproportionate blocking of videos that featured women.”

Twitch states that pornographic or sexually explicit content is strictly prohibited.

Users will also not see adult content on the home page, as well as video recommendations with drug, intoxication or excessive tobacco use, violent and graphic images, and gambling. Users can search for similar content by tags or find it directly on the author’s channel.

Twitch will not remove the adult game from the main page, but will process the video separately and automatically mark the broadcasts as “Mature Rated Game”.
