Starfield is up for “Most Innovative Gameplay” at the 2023 Steam Award

Starfield is up for

The nominees for the Steam Award 2023 have been announced, and Starfield managed to get the Most Innovative Gameplay nomination. Unlike most other awards, the Steam Awards limits nominees to a maximum of two categories, which probably explains why Baldur’s Gate 3, which was the juggernaut of the 2023 awards, was not found in all the nominations. Other nominees in two categories include EA Sports FC24, Lethal Company, Hogwarts Legacy and Resident Evil 4.

Starfield’s nomination is somewhat unexpected, as Bethesda’s role-playing game is in many ways an evolution of the company’s previous games – Skyrim, Fallout and others. Also, users, reviewers and modmakers note the somewhat boring nature of the gameplay, which claims to be innovative.

However, unlike the Golden Joysticks or The Game Awards, the Steam Award nominations and winners are decided solely by gamers, and Starfield has many fans. The game may not have lived up to expectations, but it was still one of the biggest and most talked about releases of 2023.

Voting for the Steam Awards begins on December 21st, when the big Steam Winter Sale also kicks off. Voting will continue until January 2, after which the winners will be announced and the awards will be presented. Here is a list of all the Steam Awards 2023 nominees:
