GlobalLogic — the second largest IT company in Ukraine — in a new study asked more than 1,000 professionals about their plans for 2024.
Yes, in the conditions of the uncertainty of the future due to the war (all other serious challenges have long since receded into the background), it is very difficult to plan anything. However, research suggests that planning what we can do is generally very beneficial because it provides a minimal sense of control and improves mental balance.

In its study, GlobalLogic found that after the invasion, almost a third of professionals stopped making long-term plans, a quarter limited their planning horizon to the next month, and only 14% maintained the habit of forming detailed and long-term plans.
The survey participants determined that in 2024 they will primarily take care of the family and the well-being of loved ones. In second place is personal and professional development – education, mental health, career achievements. At the same time, almost half of the respondents emphasized the importance of volunteering, as well as physical development and sports achievements.
Among personal goals, more than a third of respondents indicated learning at least one new programming language. Other intentions include collecting FPV drones, solo hikes in the mountains, mastering a musical instrument, sheltering animals from a shelter, renovating an apartment, completing a master’s degree, returning to his hometown, starting a family, giving more than UAH 100,000 to the Armed Forces. Since the beginning of the war, GlobalLogic specialists have collected more than 54 million hryvnias for the Armed Forces only in the internal Telegram chat, the company notes.
When asked “What is your roadmap for 2024 associated with?”, 30% pointed to Murphy’s Law, apparently preparing for unpredictable change. Another 24% had an association with a Gantt chart, indicating a desire for specialists to structure their plans. Fewer (13% of respondents) associate the next year with the famous Occam’s razor, which symbolizes cutting off excess and choosing simple but effective solutions.
