PS5 Slim reached Ukraine – it is about the official sale of Sony’s new console. So far, only the Ultra HD Blu-ray drive model is available, while the Digital version is expected soon.
In October, Sony introduced a more compact PlayStation 5 with a 1TB SSD and a Blu-ray docking station for the digital version – it will replace the original PlayStation 5, which will disappear from the market forever after the warehouse stocks are exhausted. In the USA and Europe, sales of PS5 Slim started back in November (and, judging by the first reports, they stimulated the already high demand for Sony consoles), and now PS5 Slim has appeared in Ukrainian retailers — Comfy, Rozetka, MOYO.
The price of the compact PS5 in Ukraine is 22,999 ₴. That is, it is only ₴300 more expensive than the regular PS5, whose stocks have not yet sold out. Usually there is an option to buy a loan and pay in equal parts – from 3 to 15 payments.
For comparison, in the US, PS5 Slim prices are $450 and $500 for versions without and with a drive, respectively. In Europe, as usual, the prices are a bit higher — €450 and €550.
The PS5 Slim is 30% more compact and approximately 24% lighter (3.2kg vs. 4.5kg) than the regular PS5. It also has a 1 TB SSD and an additional (second) USB-C front connector. Otherwise, there are no differences from the original PS5. According to rumors, Sony is preparing a version of the PlayStation 5 Pro with increased performance and is aiming for the second half of 2024.
Meanwhile, Sony reported that sales of the PS5 have already exceeded 50 million units (this is about the supply to gamers, not stores) – this milestone of the console passed on December 9, 2023. And that means the PS5 is now only a week behind the PS4 – in July, when the PS5 passed the 40 million worldwide console mark, it was two months behind the PS4’s pace.
