China’s BYD will build a new plant for the production of electric vehicles in Hungary

The facility, built in Szeged in southern Hungary, is expected to create thousands of jobs for local residents.

Since April 2016, Tesla’s biggest Chinese competitor already has a base in Komarom in northwestern Hungary, which assembles electric buses and became BYD’s first plant in Europe.

According to Reuters, the company currently has more than 30 industrial parks and production bases around the world, as well as factories in the United States, Brazil, Japan and India.

According to a recent study by Counterpoint, BYD almost caught up with Tesla’s global sales in the third quarter of 2023, with both accounting for 17% of the total global pure electric car market. Tesla delivered a total of more than 435,000 cars, while BYD delivered 431,600, just 3,500 cars less than Tesla.

Tesla, BYD and “traditional” car manufacturers. Electric cars are on the way to a new record – in 2023, sales will reach 14 million. When will the internal combustion engine end?
